Meet Heather Audette, ADHD Therapist in MA
It’s time to find balance and peace in your life.
You’re here because life keeps getting more stressful… and it’s getting harder to pretend everything is fine.
Somewhere between trying to exceed expectations and just staying afloat, you may have even lost sight of yourself. You’ve done everything you can to feel better, but it feels impossible to regain control.
You’re ready for a change. And you’re in the right place.
Hi, I’m Heather (she/her).
One of my biggest passions? Supporting my clients in making meaningful changes in their lives. It’s what drives me every day.
My approach is person-centered, strengths-based, and neurodiversity-affirming. I focus on embracing your unique strengths, seeing you as the expert of your life, and celebrating the way your mind works — because we’re all a little different.
I strive to create a safe, comfortable space where you can show up as your authentic self. If you’re used to pretending that everything is okay when it’s definitely not, and the idea of being your true self feels daunting, that’s okay. We’ll get there.
How I work
In our sessions, we’ll focus on what matters most to you.
Whether it’s time management, tough days at work, relationship struggles, or the weight of past experiences, this is your space to work through it all.
Together, we’ll explore patterns that might be holding you back and practice strategies that feel right for you. With my training and experience in a variety of therapy methods, I customize our sessions to your unique strengths, needs, and goals.
I’ll encourage you to try new approaches so we can find out what truly works for you, but I won’t assign homework — because life is hard enough.
The #1 Thing My Clients Say To Me?
“I never thought of it that way.”
(Closely followed by “Hey, that thing we talked about actually worked” and “You should get a commission for suggesting all these great products.”)
Clients often tell me they appreciate how easy it is to talk to me. I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and offer new perspectives. Whether it’s remembering your pet’s name, asking about that big work meeting, or following up on a conversation with a friend, I’m here for the details that matter to you.
Our sessions are interactive and collaborative. I won’t just throw advice at you. I definitely won’t silently nod and then ask how everything makes you feel. We’ll work together to discover your strengths, explore what’s holding you back, and develop strategies to move forward.
There’s no pressure to be perfect or have it all figured out. Come as you are and we’ll figure things out together.
Here’s the Thing:
You’re not broken, and there’s nothing wrong with you. Here’s how I can help.
We’ll Focus on Strengths
You’ve probably spent a long time beating yourself up for all the things you haven’t done “right.” Let’s change that. Together, we’ll identify your unique strengths and use them to work through your challenges.
We’ll Connect
Clients describe me as caring, insightful, and approachable. As a neurodivergent therapist, I blend knowledge with empathy to build genuine connections with my clients. I’m committed to understanding your unique experience and helping you make meaningful changes in your life.
You’ll Know I Get It
Our sessions go beyond what I learned in grad school. They’re shaped by real-world insights, lived experience, and genuine understanding — and always uniquely tailored to you. As a recovering perfectionist who’s familiar with the “gifted kid to late diagnosis pipeline” … I get it. Like, really get it.
What Does Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy Look Like?
I believe therapy can’t be one-size-fits-all. Here are some things to expect during our sessions:
Eye contact isn’t expected.
Conversations are fluid and flexible, giving you space to process your thoughts or change topics as needed.
Tangents are welcome. I’ll keep up with you and we’ll find our way back.
Feel free to fidget, stim, doodle, move around the room, or have your pet join us. Do your thing.
Have a special interest or current hyperfixation? Let’s talk about it! I’d love to learn about your passions.
This is your space to be yourself. I’ll help with the rest—we’re in this together.
My guiding principles
Connection
We’ll build a genuine relationship based on mutual trust and respect, creating space for meaningful discussions and deeper insights.
Flexibility
My therapy approach is personalized and adaptable, based on your unique needs and what matters most to you.
Growth
I’ll help you explore new perspectives and teach you skills and strategies to make daily life feel easier.
Compassion
I approach our sessions with empathy and kindness, creating a supportive environment where you can feel seen, heard, and understood.
Collaboration
We’ll work together to navigate your challenges and celebrate your success along the way.
Empowerment
My goal is to help you recognize and build on your strengths, so you can face challenges with confidence.
My Approach
With over 16 years of experience working in diverse settings — residential assessment and treatment programs, mobile crisis intervention, group practice, and private practice — I’ve supported a wide range of clients. My roles as a clinical supervisor and director deepened my understanding of how to guide people through challenges.
Because no two people are the same, I use an integrative approach to therapy. We’ll customize our sessions to fit what works best for you — whether that means building practical tools, exploring deeper emotions and longstanding patterns, or blending a bit of everything.
Here are some of the approaches I use —
-
ACT teaches us how to accept our life experiences and focus on actions that align with our values and goals.
-
CBT helps us develop practical strategies to navigate challenges, manage stress, and build skills to make everyday life feel easier.
-
EMDR is a trauma therapy that helps our brain change the way we think about past events, reducing their emotional impact so we can move forward.
-
Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy creates a safe, empowering space where your unique way of thinking is seen as a strength, not something to fix. We’ll embrace your strengths and build the skills that matter to you — without trying to change who you are.
-
Mindfulness teaches us to focus on the present moment. Building awareness of our thoughts and feelings helps us to feel more grounded and less overwhelmed during stressful situations.
-
DBT offers skills to help us manage intense emotions, improve communication and boundaries in relationships, and navigate stressful situations.
